The Albuquerque Museum of Art boasts a well-considered sculpture garden. From nativist pieces to avant-garde, from timeless motifs to the New Mexican settlers, the variety is impressive.

The inner courtyard, between the Museum itself and Old Town, has a few bronzes that radiate in the dappled light.

The mother and child pictured above is my favorite subject in this group. Click the thumbnail to see a couple of views. "Evocative" and Paul Simon's "Mother and Child Reunion" sprang to my mind -- what about your reaction?

Tributes to the Settlers -- these bronze tableaux show the various settlers who made New Mexico what it is: Spanish settlers following in the footsteps of the Conquistadors, and Anglo pioneers, and then the ranching cowboys.

This composition earned me a pat on my own back!
