Since the 2004 summer was healthily rainy, the 2005 spring season was wonderful. In drought years, bluebonnets are not quite so plentiful. The good news is that the other flowers have a chance to shine. For instance, spring of 2003 was an outstanding year for Indian Paintbrushes. There was a surprising number of albino bluebonnets in '03, too.

 

Although I've since taken better pictures with much better equipment, the two pictures linked above have always been my favorites. They are from south of Cleburne, Texas (itself south of Dallas).
