At left, Pelican Rock can be somewhat crowded with divers. There are impressive lobsters, and at least one stonefish. Depths range from about 15 feet to 6,000 feet. (Bahia San Lucas -- Bay of St. Luke -- is an immensely deep harbor, similar to Monterey Bay in northern California.)

Toward the right, Neptune's Finger is not as varied as Pelican Rock for divers.

At right, past Lover's Beach, diving Land's End puts you in both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez on the same dive. You'll start in the Sea, then dive around through the surge to the Pacific. Even that 100 yards hosts more species than at Pelican Rock.
